It is very common for one to get indecisive or disoriented when coming up with a powerful brand or purpose. When starting a "successful" company or business the number one rule we all know is having a creative, yet meaningful brand in order to standout and be unique. The mission is first finding a target, in other words an audience; where one can base all knowledge and meaning of the brand in order to catch the outside's attention. This later drives us to the real question; how does one make their brand unique? Well, the truth is, there are many ways to captivate the audience attention, but first you must determine your purpose and target.
Taking a look a the short documentary Worn Wear, I was able to enjoy their use of story telling throughout the entire film, taking advantage of their past memories and using it as a way to build a name for the company. They were able to deliver their own experiences in a way that allows them to relate to the audience, making them feel understood, therefore leading to more customers. The company Patagonia sells clothing products most commonly for outdoor adventures, and as many of us know, these type of clothing need extra protection in order to resist the costumer’s everyday use. The documentary begins by briefly introducing the audience what the Patagonia brand is all about, giving background and past facts of how it all started. It later delves more into the personal uses, where different Patagonia customers describe their own experiences with the product and how it has benefited them in their daily uses.
I truly admire the creative way the producers of the film decided to structure up the story telling, explaining the audience all the great uses of these products. It was a unique, yet personal way to connect with the audience making them feel engaged at all times. Watching this documentary actually gave me a reason to go on and purchase one of their products, and I am sure other viewers have felt the same way.
So now, taking a look at this new source of brand building, made me realize that by just opening up to new alternatives and not just sticking with the usual, could bring in very successful results.
