Things develop very quickly. We might not even notice it at times, but our lives are drastically changing in a blink of an eye. Us teenagers, are in a point of our lives where we look forward in having fun, spending time with our friends and letting those special moments pass by, we don't quite realize the blessings we have before our eyes until life forces us to.
Summer came and I was ready to enjoy every moment with my closest friends and experiencing unforgettable adventures together. We all see summer as a chance to relax and be stress free, but by the time you realize it, we have pushed away the most important things in our lives. Family. Being so concerned about having fun and making the best out of the summer, we don't give much attention to our family members.
I began this summer with a trip to the snow, I was completely pulled away from my family, due to the fact that they weren't on the trip with me. This adventure was one of a kind, yet devastating, I spent so much time away from home I rarely realized how much I actually missed my family. Having just a few days left of my vacation, I received a mortifying phone call from home, it was my father, he informed me that my mom had a severe infection, but no doctor could actually detect the cause. My entire body froze as my mind processed the information, never in a million years would I have expected this to happen, why this? Why now? The urge I had to get back home was huge, all I wanted was to see my family and be there for my mother.
It was then where I realized how everything changes so quickly, and how important it is to take advantage of every blessing given to us.
Arriving to lima was when I made a promise to myself to take these few weeks left of summer to spend quality time with my family, having the opportunity to be around them as much as possible.
