We often don't realize how much our emotions and feelings build us up as human beings, how those little details from our past are the factors that make each and every one of us is different. As our life moves on, we have slowly created a personality that defines us in a unique way; shaping our lives either by the people in our surroundings or a certain reputation we have established. These factors have been by our side day by day, some attributes being completely beneficial, while others having the potential to hold us back.
What if we where to be put in a situation were all these attributes of ours were to disappear? What would our lives and inner-selves be like? Imagining our lives without these unique aspects, is something completely bizarre; how could one possibly live not having those special memories and traits that build us up as humans? Loosing these qualities is for sure devastating, but what if we were to leave all of our flaws and negative features behind as well.
We are all very much aware of our own flaws, and how many of them tend to limit certain goals or standards we would like to reach in some point of our lives. But the truth is, if we are never willing to put these fears to rest, then we will never be capable of succeeding entirely, always having that small factor holding us back from complete "perfection". If we were to think of all the negative features that have slowly built up inside of us, we would see how much they have actually affected our life style and how getting rid of them can be surprisingly beneficial.
Brainstorming different alternatives for my TedTalk, I was encountered with the topic of getting rid of my own flaws, and how doing this will allow me to live more "freely". When given the task to think about certain attributes or objects one would carry out of a burnt house, I noticed how concerned I was in storing those positive qualities in my life. Giving this much thought, I wondered what it would be like to leave all my weaknesses and fears behind, allowing them to disappear with that "burnt house". Doing this, I will be able to shut down my fear of not being good enough or my stressing sensation of never becoming someone independent. These specific fears are the barriers that have limited my life when achieving major accomplishments, not being capable of opening up to new opportunities. So now, if I were to let these “barriers” of mine vanish, my life and mentality would have an entirely new perspective, allowing me to see future opportunities as a possibility or objective to follow.
Having no weaknesses stopping me from achieving something different, will allow me to discover new passions and strengths, I probably never knew I had the potential to do.
The message I wish to convey with this is that most of us are too caught up on cherishing the positive factors in our life, when actually the negative features play a big role in our daily lives as well. How saving great memories and valuable qualities is just as important as leaving our flaws, both having the same potential in changing our lives forever.
